Time seems to move faster when temperatures fall. In autumn, the city comes alive with new restaurants and a reunion of friends after their summer travels. Just as the wind kicks colorful leaves in the air in spiral cyclones, the brisk chill energizes me to reconnect with friends and reflect upon the warm months behind us. This "back to school" excitement always takes me by surprise.
The flurry of excitement can also be exhausting, and can leave me longing for a cozy weekend day at home. And nothing tastes cozier than pie...with ice cream.
