Strawberry Black Tea

Strawberry Black Tea ice cream is the perfect compliment for any tea party or gathering of ladies who lunch. And since I like lunch (almost as much as brunch, breakfast, dinner), it is the perfect spring ice cream flavor for me!

I used my favorite black tea, which has dried cornflower blue blossoms in it, and I steeped it in the cream mixture to create the flavor base. Before chilling the mixture, I added some pureed strawberries - about half the amount I would use for strawberry ice cream. The result is a delicate flavor that starts on a sunny strawberry note and ends in a sophisticated tea finish.

A few weeks ago, I had the honor of attending the White House Spring Garden Tour. The blooming tulips and azaleas made me excited to think of the beautiful spring and summer ahead of us in 2012.
I tried my hand at sketching the White House. Then I admired the White House vegetable garden (which was next to the White House Beehive).
