I added ginger, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cayenne to a Ghirardelli dark chocolate base. It was a big hit at this weekend's barbecue. What I found interesting is that different people's taste palettes picked up on different flavors. Some people tasted mostly cinnamon, others tasted the nutmeg. But everyone experienced the chili heat at the end of each bite.

Chocolate Five Spice
This is a twist on Mexican Chocolate, which combines chocolate with cinnamon and spicy pepper.

cinnamon ice cream
I like cinnamon ice cream so much, I try it everywhere I see it sold. This one tasted great because it the ingredients were so fresh, but I kind of wanted more of a kick. (A slice of apple pie would have hit the spot!)

I'm looking forward to playing with the flavors to keep improving it. Caramel might be a nice addition.
There's a barbecue place in Texas that serves chocolate cinnamon shakes. That might be next on my to-make list!
